Loveland, often referred to as the Sweetheart City, is located about 45 miles north of Denver and is part of the Loveland-Ft. Collins Metropolitan area. It's also east of the Big Thompson River Canyon. Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park are nearby and are huge tourist attractions.

The public school system is part of the Thompson R2-J School District. There are four public high schools and two private high schools. There are 15 elementary schools and four middle schools, with Madison Early Childhood Center and the New Vision Charter School. Loveland High School is the largest school with more than 1,679 students.
With an annual snowfall of about 54", Loveland has several nearby parks that offer sking, tubing, and snowshoeing. Many who live in the area enjoy hiking, biking, boating, and fishing, especially in the summer months. The annual Art in the Park is held at the Benson Sculpture Garden the second week in August. More than 200 pieces of art are displayed with the background of the Rocky Mountains. It's the largest event in Loveland.
The Loveland Museum and Gallery is also a tourist attraction and a place where the locals enjoy going. The museum has a poetry program and an Outreach Trunk Program. It's an excellent way for the teachers and homeschooling families to allow students hands-on history lessons. Some of the available trunks are: candle making, archeology, Cattlemen, and Mountainmen.
Loveland's historic downtown features unique shops, antiques, bookstores, and exclusive outdoor sculptures. There are many local restaurants that offer all different kinds of cuisine.
